Welcome to Raising an Ally.
A brand conceived in 2022 by designer, Daisy Pooley-Tolkien, after the birth of her first child.
Based in the suburbs of Southwest London, Daisy, a mother to a growing and creative family, established Raising an Ally through candid conversations with fellow mums and a growing sense of unease about the prevailing state of the world.
This movement was born from an essential question: How can we cultivate boys who are compassionate allies rather than people who perpetuate scorn? How do we empower our girls to be champions of one another instead of adversaries in a world that often fosters unhealthy competition? In an era where anyone can amplify their ideas, whether they contribute positively to society or not, we find ourselves at a crucial crossroads. How do we ensure that we are nurturing the next generation to be not just successful individuals, but kind-hearted and empathetic human beings as well, who have the power to make the world a better place?

At Raising an Ally, we passionately advocate for the younger generations to not only discover their voices but also utilise them as instruments of change. Our mission is to foster a culture where individuals uplift and support one another, where challenging conversations are embraced, and where the relentless pursuit of a better world is a shared endeavour. We believe in the fundamental principles of equality, striving for a society where gender and race cease to be barriers, and where our collective responsibility extends to safeguarding our precious planet.
Within the community of Raising an Ally, we envision the construction of a supportive village, a place where diverse voices come together to initiate crucial dialogues. Our aim is to galvanise these conversations with design, question and messaging, hoping in part, to serve as a catalyst for a more positive world. One rooted in kindness, empathy, and compassion. Above all else, our ultimate aspiration is to nurture our future generations, instilling in them the enduring virtue of allyship and Raising Humans Kind.
